Even as a fairly long backcountry river trip, the put-in and take-out options are logistically pretty easy to deal with.
Labyrinth Canyon Put Ins
Option 1: Ruby Ranch
Ruby Ranch is by far the most popular put-in for Labyrinth Canyon.
Option 2: Green River State Park in Green River Utah.
A less popular put-in is at the boat ramp at the Green River State Park in Green River, Utah. There is overnight camping at Green River (fee required) and a concrete boat ramp that is convenient for rigging up your boats. Putting in here adds 23 miles and at least one additional day/night to your trip. A small riffle lies about a mile below this put-in, one of the more substantial “rapids” on Labyrinth Canyon.
Most of this mileage is through open pastoral range and ranch land. There is some farming and mining machinery in the river. Still, this stretch has its own beauty with distant views of canyonlands and the La Sal mountains in Colorado. You will also float past the Crystal Geyser which — if you hang out long enough, you might see erupt.
Labyrinth Canyon Take outs
The typical take out for Labyrinth Canyon is at Mineral Bottom, just outside of the Canyonlands National Park boundary.
Getting to Mineral Bottom is in itself an adventure.
If you are still stoked for more, you can extend your trip down the Green River past Mineral Bottom into Stillwater Canyon down to the confluence of the Colorado River. NOTE! You will need to have a separate permit for Stillwater, as well as arrange a jetboat shuttle back up the Colorado River to Moab.
